The Topps Company, Inc. was founded way back in 1938 in Brooklyn New York but can be traced back even further as a Tobacco company in 1890. Early on they created Bazooka bubble gum which had a comic on the wrapper, to increase sales they started selling the gum with trading cards. Along the way they aquired Bowman who were also selling cards with gum and several other non sports style cards like Garbage Pail Kids and Wacky Packages to name a few. In 2026 the Fanatics company will take over the license for Major League Baseball cards from Topps.

Major League Baseball was founded way back in 1876 for the National Leage and later on came the American League in 1901. Today the league consists of 30 teams with 29 in the United States and one in Canada.
