Paint Pens - They Work Great for Model Building and Other Hobbies.

I tested these paint pens on some of the very small parts you find on plastic model kits, for example the Land Rover model from Revell that I am Currently Working on. At the bottom of the page you will see links to the actual pens I used to achieve some really nice results. First you unwrap the color you want from the wrap, open the lid and press the tip against some scrap paper or whatever you have laying around, you will see the paint fill up the tip and then you are ready to paint your parts. If you are working on many models like I do you will find this very handy as you simple toss on a few colors and there is no brushes to clean afterward, just snap the cap back on and your done! This Leaf Spring was done mostly with the Aroic 36 Color Paint Pen Set that you can see near the bottom of this page, the flat black was done with an empty marker that I made up, you can see those fillable markers below.

The picture above shows a piece of leaf spring with shocks that was painted entirely with paint pens, except for the chrome shaft of the shocks which I did with a chrome pen, you can see a review of that item here - Molotow Liquid Chrome Marker. I found you will need special paint pens that you really wont find in normal color sets, Colors like ones with Flat Black and Flat White paint which are pretty common in model building. And also for gloss and matt Clear Varnish. Use the refillable paint pens above, I have the exact same ones and totally love them, I currently have them for all 4 of the colors and clears listed above and I am sure I will find a use for the 3 markers I have left over.

 

The 3 Pronged Search for Paint Pens on Ebay - I hope you found this page useful, I found a great use for these Paint Pens in my Modeling Hobby but they will really be good for just about anything from artwork to painting rocks or even touching up your car! (I admit I did use the white marker to spruce up the white text on my tires.)

Tips for Keeping your Paint Pens in good working order and other handy hints:

1. Close Lid Firmly after Use.

2. Shake before using and compress the tip to expel the air, maybe even pump the tip on a hard surface a few times until the paint flows like you want.

3. If your tip gets clogged simply put it quickly under a hot water tap for a second and let dry before using again.

4. Don't use them too long on bigger surfaces or they tend to clog up fast. Better to just move on to another color and come back to your big piece later.
